Title: Personal experiences of ‘Big Data’ and advanced analytical methods in industry and research, and potential applications in healthcare

Background Information: Established in July 2014, the Adelaide based Data to Decisions CRC (D2D CRC) is part of the Cooperative Research Centres Programme where, with funding from the Australian Government, researchers and industry are brought together to be a leading provider of Big Data capability for Defence and National Security, resulting in a safer and more secure nation and a sustainable Big Data workforce for Australia. In addition to Defence and National Security, the CRC is also applying their R&D and know-how in Big Data and Data Science to other sectors such as Health, Manufacturing and Agriculture (known as the Research and Innovation Exchange). Please join Troy Wuttke and Dennis Horton from D2D CRC for an overview of the work that the CRC is undertaking in these sectors and the potential applications/opportunities in healthcare.
Troy Wuttke is a Data Scientist at the CRC, leading the Research and Innovation Exchange programs. Troy has over 10 years’ experience across APAC and the US in Big Data/Data Science applications in the Law Enforcement, Defence, Financial, Agriculture and Manufacturing sectors.
Dennis Horton is a Data Scientist at the CRC, leading the Health Analytics Program. Dennis has spent the bulk of his career as a statistician with the Australian Bureau of Statistics but has also spent several years in the pharmaceutical industry and business intelligence.
