Rheumatologist Dr Huai Leng (Jessica) Pisaniello wins New Investigator Award
Dr Huai Leng (Jessica) Pisaniello, Rheumatology Research Group, was awarded the Australian Rheumatology Association’s New Investigator Award following a webinar presentation with three other finalists in early August. These presentations were in lieu of the 60th Annual Scientific Meeting of the ARA. Jess presented part of her PhD work which was undertaken at the University of Manchester in the UK. Jess’s time in the UK was supported by The Ken Muirden Overseas Training Fellowship from the Australian Rheumatology Association. Her UK supervisors were Professor William Dixon (external supervisor), Professor John Mcbeth and Dr Mark Lunt. Returning to Adelaide only recently required Jess and her family to spend a total of four weeks in hotel quarantine in both NSW and SA. Her BHI, TQEH based supervisors Professor Catherine Hill (Principal Supervisor), Professor John Beltrame, Dr Sam Whittle, and Sue Lester are delighted to have her safely back in the state!
