Thesis title: Exploring the use of exclusive enteral nutrition in adult patients with Chrohn’s Disease

Supervisors: Associate Professor Rob Bryant, Dr Alice Day and Dr Sam Costello

Scholarship: The University of Adelaide Research Training Program Stipend

Exclusive Enteral Nutrition (EEN) is a nutrition-based treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) with numerous advantages compared to conventional therapies. While it is the standard of care in paediatric patients with Crohn’s disease (CD), evidence on how EEN should be prescribed and guidance on treatment decision-making is sparse when prescribed for adult patients.

The proposed body of work will evaluate current use and outcomes of EEN in adult IBD patients and prospectively assess the implementation, efficacy, and tolerability of an optimised, evidence-based EEN protocol developed for adults with CD.
