The Stroke Research Program (SRP) is a unique collaboration between the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN – Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital – Basil Hetzel Institute), The University of Adelaide (Adelaide Medical School, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences) and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).  

The SRP has been instrumental in helping establish dedicated Stroke Treatment Units at major hospitals in Adelaide and research conducted by the SRP is helping to improve health outcomes for individuals who have a stroke, through improved diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of stroke. 

Research projects offered include: Stem Cell Therapy in Stroke, Npas4 and Stroke, Proteomics of Stroke and Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA), Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) for Stroke Victims and Clinical Translation of Stroke Treatment.
